Conference and Seminar Questions
What is the format of seminars?

Seminars are teacher led classes that function like face-to-face seminars with the advantages and conveniences of e-learning. They take place over varying periods of time (See catalogue description.) and take place in our forums.
Note: Symposia take place over the course of a month. You do not have to be at your computer at any special time. Login anytime and find the entire proceedings including comments posted since your last visit."

How do I receive Continuing Education Credits for conference, seminar and symposium?

Typically, but not always, conferences and seminars have continuing education credits associated with them for an additional fee. At the end of any of these events a test, or in the case of conferences in which multiple papers are discussed, several tests will be available to you in our testing center. Note:In some cases the cost of continuing education credits is included in the registration fee. In most cases the fee for CEUs is an additional fee. Please check to see if there is a separate fee for CEUs before registering..

Do you have to be at your computer at any special times to take a conference, seminar or symposium?

No. All PsyBC programs are "asynchronous". You can login to your conference, seminar or symposium whenever you wish from any computer with access to the Internet. You will find the entire proceedings including everything that has transpired since the last time you logged in.

How do I download papers in a conference?

Once you have accessed the conference room click on the topics (aka threads). At the top of the first comment of each thread based on a paper you will see an "attachment". This is the paper usually referred to in the name of that thread (either by author name or title of the paper.) Click on it and it will download into your computer.

What is the format of conferences?

PsyBC's symposia are online panel discussions in which of leading thinkers discuss important journal articles with the authors, among themselves, and with attendees. An extraordinary value for continuing education credits and the format that won us the Gradiva Award for New Media. As with all our interactive courses they take place in our forums.
Note: Symposia take place over the course of a month. You do not have to be at your computer at any special time. Login anytime and find the entire proceedings including comments posted since your last visit."

What are the technical requirements for attending a conference, seminar and symposium?

All our conferences, seminars and symposia take place in PsyBC forums. All you need is a web browser such as Netscape or Microsoft Explorer.
Don't worry about learning how to use our classrooms. They are wonderfully intuitive (I personally tested them out on my 86 year old mother who learned how to use them in less than 1/2 hour.). Moreover PsyBC provides an orientation the week before you begin where you can try out the forum so that you do not waste any of your time figuring it out once you have begun. PsyBC also provides ongoing support about how to use the classroom if you have any questions after you have begun.

What are the grievance policies?

Grievances are referred to PsyBC¹s director of continuing education or to its director who communicate directly with the individual with a complaint, each of which is addressed on an individual basis. In cases involving interactive programs and when the grievance is made while the course is taking place and involves the content or pedagogical aspects of a course, the instructor is often brought into the process. The goal is to try to meet the needs of the students by making any adjustments possible to improve their learning experience. In cases concerning library papers and/or interactive case study or when a grievance is made after a course is completed, the complaint is treated within the context of PsyBC¹s reimbursement policies.
